I have always been fascinated by the charm and beauty of images and objects of the past. I particularly love the era dating from approximately the 1860’s to the 1920’s, as well as the middle decades of American culture following WWII. Heavily ornamented, idealistic, romantic to the extreme, and sentimental. Although the female ideal often led to extremes of behavior or fashion, the images captured of that culture’s highest notions of perfect feminine beauty are still captivating. |

| I also love the way early photographers used their newly-acquired skills and tools to achieve such beautiful and lasting images of extremely fragile moments when capturing the faces and postures of children and pets…not an easy accomplishment in a time when the medium was in its infancy and a relative luxury in modest households. The humblest and most mundane moments of family life were cherished and given sensitive and artistic treatment by these early imaging pioneers. |  |
